The most popular regions were Catalonia (46%), Madrid (32%) and Andalusia (16%).<\/p>\n

What are the preferences of Chinese tourists?<\/span><\/h2>\n

They primarily<\/span> seek culture, shopping, art and cuisine. Travelling to Europe is also a synonym of good social standing, belonging to the upper class and the new middle-upper class. The way in which they travel is changing: they are starting to organise their trips by themselves (56%) and are leaving behind the traditional group trips that characterise them.<\/p>\n

How much do Chinese tourists spend in Spain?<\/span><\/h2>\n

In financial terms, Chinese tourism left 1310 million euros in the Spanish national coffers. Individually, the average expenditure per person and day stands at around \u20ac291, much higher than that of the average foreign tourist at \u20ac146.<\/p>\n
